Carbon Copy Ladies Painting
Carbon Copy Ladies
A one-of-a-kind painting on canvas incorporating reclaimed materials and collage elements. This piece blends traditional painting with found imagery, creating a layered composition that is both visually striking and conceptually charged.
This work integrates fragments of a mass-produced “American Pride” dish towel—manufactured in China—into the painted surface, juxtaposing handmade expression with globally manufactured identity. The reused material becomes central to the composition, carrying both cultural and material significance.
This piece explores themes of replication, identity, and contradiction—where ideas of Americana, mass production, and authenticity intersect. By incorporating a factory-made object into a hand-painted work, it questions what is original, what is copied, and what holds value.
Painted and assembled by hand on canvas, the surface is layered with collage elements that create depth, texture, and visual tension. The contrast between printed fabric and painted form gives the work a tactile, dimensional quality, with imperfections that emphasize its handmade nature.
